Hello! My name is Benjamin Tran (b. 1997). I’m a visual artist, photographer, and mindfulness teacher from London, Ontario. I am known for my surrealist and experimental contemporary art style, through which I create evocative pieces that delve into themes of self-discovery.

Through an intuitive use of colour, form, and composition, my art offers a window into my innermost thoughts and feelings and reflects my ongoing journey of exploring consciousness through the creative process. My art is both deeply personal and universal, as I invite you to also contemplate your own experiences of self-discovery and consciousness. My art is expressed through a variety of media including paintings, mixed-media drawings, murals, pyrography, and photography.

I studied at Western University where I got my M.Sc in Health & Rehabilitation Sciences, and B.A in Psychology and Kinesiology. My M.Sc Thesis, titled ‘the experience of mindfulness and it’s nondual nature in active practitioners’ can be accessed here. I’m also a certified facilitator of the Mindfulness Ambassador Program with Global Minds Collective.

I have taught art and mindfulness in a multitude of settings (e.g. community centres, high-schools, universities) and continue to work with the London Arts Council to deliver workshops and performances to my local community. I have worked with several non-profit organizations such as Kids Help Phone, ON Canada Project, and L’Arche London. Since 2019, I have developed a diverse portfolio of commissioned artwork (incl. murals, paintings, wood-burning, graphic design). Notable past clients include: the Thames Valley District School Board (TVDSB), The Town of Ingersoll, Salt Haven Wildlife Rehabilitation & Education Centre, Scholars Education Centre, Eric Reprid (JUNO-nominated musician), and Western University.

With a passion for promoting mindfulness and open awareness through my art, I believe in the transformative power of the creative process and its ability to promote emotional, physical, and spiritual health.
